Curtain walls STE-6000
LEED project
The STM Stinson Transportation Centre is a large bus garage and maintenance facility that also houses administrative offices. Lemay Architectes designed the office façade using STEKAR’s STE-6000 curtain wall system, combined with a green wall and translucent panels to humanize this industrial complex.
A panoramic curtain wall along the second-floor offices provides the team with abundant natural light and an impressive view—something rarely seen in traditional bus garages. This curtain wall uses high-strength frames to support long spans and is fitted with energy-efficient glass to maintain indoor comfort.
The building achieved LEED certification, with the façade contributing through optimized daylighting and high thermal performance. The rest of the structure is composed of robust insulated metal panels and precast concrete walls in the depot areas, ensuring durability.
The façade design skillfully balances function and form: transparent sections break up the mass and highlight STM’s commitment to employee well-being and sustainability, while opaque sections meet the robustness requirements needed to house dozens of buses.
