This federal office complex (for Public Services and Procurement Canada), located in the Estimauville district, was designed by Lemay Architectes according to the highest environmental standards. The multi-wing building features STEKAR’s STE-6000 curtain wall systems on its main façades, complemented by vertical sunshades and a green roof (not visible) to meet LEED criteria.
The façade is composed of rhythmically spaced curtain wall segments that allow abundant natural light to enter government offices, improving employee well-being and reducing the need for artificial lighting. STEKAR also installed custom aluminum sunshades along these curtain walls to reduce solar heat gain and glare.
Between the glazed sections, the design incorporates insulated panels and opaque wall systems clad in durable materials that blend into the Québec City context. The result is a high-performance façade that combines transparency and security.
It meets strict federal requirements for energy efficiency and blast resistance while projecting a modern, open governmental identity. Inaugurated in 2019, the building envelope stands as a benchmark in sustainable public architecture, offering civil servants a comfortable work environment filled with natural light.
