Curtain walls STE-6000
This iconic cultural center was rebuilt and expanded to become a modern library and community hub. Its main feature is a two-storey STE-6000 curtain wall that spans the entire front façade. The large glazed wall, installed by STEKAR, creates a welcoming transparent showcase into the library’s interior, revealing bookshelves and activity spaces to passersby. Inside, the floor-to-ceiling glazing floods reading areas with natural light and offers views of the city, while high-performance specialty glass protects books from UV rays and minimizes heat gain.
The rest of the façade incorporates solid volumes in neutral tones to complement the glass and provide thermal mass. Designed by Lemay and Maxime Brouillet (consortium), the façade balances openness and insulation, using modern curtain wall technology to transform the library into a beacon of transparency and knowledge. The result is a bright, public landmark that meets contemporary energy standards and the needs of the community.
